About Xtruder Tools

The Origin

The Xtruder was first thought of back in 2012 by Patrik while he was insulating pipes under their house. He felt there had to be a simpler, easier way of doing it.

Patrik was certain a tool like this already existed. He searched online and found nothing.

"I was completely sure that there would exist a tool like the Xtruder already, but I could not find it."

So he began drawing a solution he thought would work.

From Wax Molds to Resin Printers

The first version was built using a wax mold and tin — let's just say it didn't live up to the precise standards we have today.

By 2018, consumer 3D printers had become more affordable. We bought a Vertex K8400 and started producing better prototypes. We later moved to resin 3D printers for their superior precision and throughput, and that's still how we produce the Xtruder today.

Once the product worked reliably with several materials, we applied for a patent.

Building the Company

Xtruder Tools AB was founded in 2022 by Patrik and Rurik Örtendahl. To help make the vision a reality, Rurik learned everything needed: slicing software, 3D printing, web development, advertising, and more.

We have worked on this together for around six years. We are continually improving the Xtruder with your feedback, and developing new versions compatible with paint and polyurethane foam.

We got the patents. Now we want to share this product with the world.
