What is Xtruder Tools?

Who are we?

We are just two people, Patrik and Rurik, father and son. We wanted to make this idea of ours a reality, so here we are.

Where are we?

In southern Finland. Torilla tavataan.

History

The Xtruder was first thought of back in 2012 by Patrik while he was insulating some pipes under our house. He thought that there must be a simpler, easier way of doing it, and he thought

Xtruder Tools is a company founded in 2021 by a father and son, Patrik and Rurik Örtendahl. We started this company from the archipelago of Finland.

Patrik was working on a heating system for our house, when he felt that there must be a better way of insulating those heat-pipes.

He thought the idea of the Xtruder surely already existed, so he started searching for something like it online, when he realized it doesn’t exist.

“I was completely sure that there would exist a tool like the Xtruder already, but I searched for it and I could not find it. ” -Patrik

So Patrik began drawing a solution he thought would work. The timing was perfect.

The first version was built using a wax mold and tin. Lets just say that that version didn’t really live up to the precise standards we have today.

3D printers had just gotten more mainstream, and also cheaper, so in 2018 we bought a Vertex K8400 and started producing better stereotypes.

We later moved to using resin 3D printers because of their superior precision and throughput. And it is with resin printers that we still produce our Xtruders.

When we got the product working with several materials, we applied for a patent.

To help my dad make this vision come true, I started learning everything about slicing software, 3D printing, web development, advertising and much more so that we could make this company a reality.

We have worked on this together for around 6 years.

We are continually improving the Xtruder so that it becomes better and better, with your feedback. WE are also developing other versions of this tool, compatible with paint and polyurethane foam.

Well, fast-forwarding, we got the patents and now we want to share this product with the world.

Thanks for reading! – Rurik and Patrik

PS: Some images coming soon of early attempts, stay tuned!
